Jeff Taulton has been a popular Singer/Songwriter/Musician in the Western Maryland Region for a very long time!

Jeff’s first real experience with live entertainment began in the late 1970’s while he was a student at Boonsboro High School.  Jeff had just began toying with an electric Bass his grandmother purchased for him from Montgomery Ward, when local musician, Lynn Routzahn, approached him about joining a band.  Within a few short months, Routzahn taught Jeff enough to get through a couple dozen songs.  The classic rock band became known as SPIKE.  With SPIKE, Jeff gained an immeasurable amount of experience as their bassist.  SPIKE became a regional success, performing throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, and West Virginia.  Jeff however, was a gifted athlete as well and at just 16, he was forced to make a major life decision… “Music or Sports”.

Jeff’s dilemma made him choose between playing Bass for SPIKE, a band rapidly growing in popularity, or starting as Running Back for the Boonsboro Warriors Football Team.  Jeff’s bittersweet decision ultimately sided with athletics.  As Jeff went on to have a record setting high school career in both Football and Baseball, SPIKE ultimately disbanded.

Jeff continued his athletic success as a Collegiate Baseball Player at Garrett College then Shepherd University.  Although sports and academics (in that order!) occupied most of his college years, Jeff continued to spend much of his spare time delving in music.

Throughout the years, Jeff has been involved in several Western Maryland regional bands including, The Brandy Stills Band, The Antietam Generals, Longmeadow Mining Company, X On Red, JustusGuns, Mercy Mercy and Sleepy Creek.  Jeff has also remained active as a solo artist in the acoustic music network.  He has opened shows for many national acts including: The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Don McLean, and The Robbin Thompson Band to name just a few.

Jeff released his first album “Wild Pitch” in 1995.  This project includes an eclectic mix of original songs covering Country, Acoustic, Americana and Humorous material.  Jeff utilized some top-notch musicians on "Wild Pitch" including, Paul Beard (Beard Guitars), Ron Pennington (nationally known Bluegrass/Jazz artist), Ken Oyerly (Contemporary Christian artist) and Tom King (a Regional Guitar Master).

Jeff Taulton is an award winning songwriter with three generations of musicians on both sides of his family.  Jeff’s paternal grandfather was the leader of a Maryland-based band, “The C Street Ramblers” during the 1930s and ‘40s.  His maternal aunts had a well-known family ensemble in Central West Virginia known as “The Herron Sisters” back in the 1950s.

Jeff can accommodate any crowd.  He shines, whether performing with The Antietam Generals in a “redneck dive”, as a solo act in a watering pub, an intimate songwriter's setting, or at church service on Sunday.

Jeff Taulton’s repertoire includes a clever mix of original material and covers from many genres of music depending to the setting or type of engagement.
